robotics fits

Define your needs, compare robots and choose the right fit

Define the task

Choose one task you want to improve. Describe how it works today and what you want to improve.

Questions to ask

How often does it happen? Who handles it? Where does it slow down? Use these answers to compare the robot with your current approach.

Check your space

Check routes, doorways, surfaces and charging access. Make sure the intended users can operate the robot comfortably.

Check the essentials

Measure turning areas, slopes and floor transitions. Check the robot’s network requirements and any door or elevator connections. If it uses cameras or microphones, ask what they record, where data is stored and who can access it.

Compare the robots

Compare what each robot can do, how long it can work and when it needs human help. Ask for results from tasks similar to yours.

Look beyond the demonstration

Check carrying capacity, reach, tools and operating limits where relevant. Ask how the robot handles obstacles, interruptions and tasks it cannot complete.

Understand the cost

Include equipment, setup, training and ongoing costs. Consider the time people will spend operating and supervising the robot.

Include recurring costs

Check subscriptions, replacement supplies, maintenance and the cost of interruptions. Consider how saved time could be used. At home, comfort and daily effort may matter more than financial savings.

Confirm suitability

Review product specifications and relevant demonstrations. Ask whether an on-site assessment or trial is available for your project.

Assess the evidence

Ask how the robot performs under conditions similar to yours. If a trial is available, confirm its terms and agree on what to measure. Otherwise, review relevant results and discuss the limits with the supplier.

Plan for everyday use

Confirm training, maintenance and repair arrangements. Know who to contact when the robot needs attention.

Confirm what is covered

Check warranty terms, spare parts, software updates and support response times. Agree on who handles routine upkeep and how users can get further training.
